The 'Ramsar movie' shown at a wildlife photography exhibition in France
The 'Ramsar movie' was shown at the 4th wildlife photography exhibition in Val de Saône, France, on 13 March. The exhibition gathered 23 photographers specialized in wildlife photography and visitors could admire the work of these photographers accustomed to waiting patiently for opportunities to take the best shot.
Awarded prizes were attributed to the best pictures by adults and also by children. In her opening speech, the President of the organization committee, Michelle Guéritey, stressed how important it is to “encourage visits that introduce youngsters to the protection of nature, to a better knowledge of the species and encourage them to have another perspective on their surroundings. Wildlife photography is an art but also the opportunity to convey a message.”
The event is an occasion for public awareness about environmental issues and the organizers set up screenings of diverse photographic slideshows and films. The Ramsar Secretariat was contacted by Stéphane Corcelle, one of the photographers taking part in the event, to provide the Ramsar movie for the screening session. The objective was to show the viewer the beauty of nature and wetlands but also the concern for their protection and conservation.
