Vacancy Announcement - FIBA recruits a Programme Officer
The “Fondation Internationale du Banc d'Arguin” (FIBA), seeks a programme officer responsible for monitoring/evaluation of FIBA. The Position would be based in Dakar, Senegal and the successful candidate is expected to enter duty by 15 November 2010.
FIBA is a non-governmental organization created under Swiss law, with activities in West Africa (Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde and Sierra Leone) in the domain of the marine environment, biodiversity conservation and community development. The bulk of its operations concentrate on supporting the creation and strengthening of Marine Protected Areas (MPA) and the establishment of an MPA network. The programme officer would work under the direct supervision of the Director General of FIBA, in close collaboration with programme coordinators. The programme officer would have the triple role of:
Ensuring the monitoring and evaluation of the FIBA conservation programme;
Supporting programme managers, coordinators and partners in the implementation of this programme and,
Support the implementation of biophysical and socio-economic surveys for measuring the impact of the conservation programme.
Expected qualification:
University degree or technical training (with a minimum of Advanced level certificate + four years of training) in the field of environmental management and preferably in line with the marine and coastal environment;
2 - 3 years of working experience in the field of international cooperation;
Knowledge and understanding of the tools for development, management and monitoring/evaluation of projects, including the logframe system;
Preferably some experience working with NGOs;
Strong interest in sustainable development and conservation;
Adaptability and autonomy as well as well as the ability to work with a team are essential;
Ability to write and synthesize is essential;
Fluency in English language (knowledge of Portuguese and Arabic would be and advantage)
Nature of the contract:
Swiss Contract of indefinite duration, with a probation period of 3 months, renewable if necessary
