Dear Ms Madgwick,
Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to you in great sadness at the passing of Dr. Chaman L. Trisal, our long-time friend and colleague.
Dr Trisal was for many years a supporter of the Ramsar Convention and all of us who met him will remember his vision, his enthusiasm, and humour. He greatly contributed to the implementation of the Convention in his region. I would like to highlight, in particular, the leading role he played in the important restoration work carried out at Chilika Lake Ramsar site and his remarkable contribution to the communication, education, participation, and awareness (CEPA) programme of the Convention.
Through me, the Ramsar Secretariat staff and the whole Ramsar community express our condolences to Dr Trisal’s family, colleagues, and friends. We will miss him and we will remember his deep commitment to nature and his fellow human beings.
Yours sincerely,
Anada Tiéga
