WetCap side event at Ramsar COP9

RIZA and Wetlands Capacity Building Partnership (WetCap - A partnership of Netherlands based International Institutions with the aim of building capacity globally-namely RIZA, IAC, Wetlands Int, UNESCO-IHE, ITC, NWP, ALTERRA, & CapNet ) cordially invites you to its joint side event at Ramsar COP9 in Uganda titled: "Wetland management training needs meeting".
Let's meet for training needs! We are all aware that wetlands need to be used wisely. But apart from legislation, funds and materials, skills and knowledge are needed for this.
Which skills and knowledge?
What training opportunities already exist?
What has happened so far in this field?
How can we better cooperate?
These are the questions that we want to answer with you.
Dr. Peter Bridgewater will review what has happened since COP 8 in Valencia, Spain in 2002. We will then work in small groups and identify the training needs and existing opportunities. We will hear challenging examples from East Africa and Latin America by Prof. George Owiti, Principal of the Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute and Ms. Rosa Montañez, Executive Director of the Ramsar Regional Centre, Panama, for the study of wetlands in the Western Hemisphere.
Come to the "Wetland management training needs meeting" side-event.
