FORO INTERNACIONAL DE HUMEDALES URBANOS
Bogotá Colombia. 28, 29 y 30 de mayo de 2003
Conservación Internacional Colombia y el Acueducto de Bogotá han unido esfuerzos desde el año 1999 para la puesta en marcha de un proyecto de recuperación y rehabilitación de los humedales urbanos de la ciudad de Bogotá. En el marco de este proyecto se esta organizando un Foro sobre el manejo de humedales urbanos, con la participación de expertos internacionales que darán a conocer sus múltiples experiencias. Entre los países participantes tendremos representantes de Estados Unidos, España, Argentina, Bolivia y Colombia y expositores de prestigio internacional como el científico holandés profesor Thomas van der Hammen, la coordinadora regional de la Convención Ramsar para las Américas, doctora Margarita Astrálaga, Luis Germán Naranjo Ph D, Coordinador ecorregional para los Andes del norte de la World Wildlife Foundation y el ornitólogo nortemanericano Frank Gary Stiles, autor de numerosos trabajos científicos sobre aves tropicales. Los temas a tratar son entre otros: visión internacional de conservación y manejo sostenible de humedales no incluidos en la lista Ramsar; herramientas internacionales de política para la conservación de humedales; el monitoreo de aves acuáticas para el manejo y conservación de humedales; estrategias y técnicas utilizadas para la recuperación de ecosistemas acuáticos urbanos de alta montaña; experiencia de restauración y manejo de humedales como el de La Nava en Palencia, España; estrategias de conservación de humedales en proyectos de infraestructura en Latino América; estado de la conservación de las aves de los humedales de la Sabana de Bogotá.
Los interesados en asistir al Foro deberán hacer una inscripción previa y llenar un formulario que pueden obtener directamente de nuestra pagina web www.conservation.org.co. Las inscripciones serán hasta el día 15 de mayo.

Conservation International of Colombia and the Aqueduct of Bogotá have joined efforts since 1999 to carry out a project for the recuperation and rehabilitation of the urban wetlands of Bogotá. One of the Project's objectives is to strengthen the knowledge about wetland management and conservation in the region. With this purpose, a Forum on the management of urban wetlands will be held, with the participation of international experts, who will share their vast experience on the subject. Among the participating countries we will have representantives from the United States, Spain, Argentina, Bolivia and Colombia and expositors of international prestige like the Dutch scientist, Professor Thomas van der Hammen, the regional coordinator for the Americas of the Ramsar Convention, Dr. Margarita Astrálaga, Luis Germán Naranjo Ph.D., ecoregional Coordinator for the Northern Andes of the World Wildlife Foundation and the North American ornithologist Frank Gary Stiles, author of numerous scientific works on tropical birds. The subjects to be shared are, among others: International perspective of the management and conservation of wetlands not included on the Ramsar list; International policy tools for wetland's conservation; waterfowl's monitoring for the management and conservation of wetlands; Strategies and techniques utilized for the recuperation of high mountain aquatic urban ecosystems; experience on the restoration and management of wetlands like, La Nava in Palencia, Spain; strategies of conservation of wetlands in projects of infrastructure in Latino America; Status of conservation of the birds from the Wetlands of the savannah of Bogotá.
