In association with INFO-ICZM (EU Demonstration Programme Information Theme); EUCC (Europe) in conjunction with CZM Centre, RIKZ; ECSA (Estuarine and Coastal Sciences Association); and Wetlands International in conjunction with BCIS (Biodiversity Conservation Information System).

Symposium endorsed by:

EU Demonstration Programme on Integrated Management of Coastal Zones and the European Environment Agency

This unique alliance of organisations involved with the coastal zone from science to management, voluntary to governmental have come together for the first time to participate in INFO-COAST '99. Our common ground is that we are all committed to improving the delivery of data, information, knowledge and expertise to aid better management of our coasts.

The Symposium will bring together those involved in gathering and using coastal and marine information so that key issues can be debated and practical solutions devised for better information provision for the integrated management of coastal zones.

Delegates will include those collecting and handling coastal information (scientists, information experts) and those using it (policy-makers, spatial planners, coastal managers, oil industry, ports and harbours). Together, they will identify barriers and will address ways of removing them to meet the objective of enhanced quality in coastal zone management. This is planned very much as a working meeting. All participants will be encouraged to take an active part, whether they are information experts or those seeking guidance on how best to incorporate sound data, information and expertise into the management of their coastal zone.

Further information and registration forms (closing date is 5 December 1998) are now available from the Wetlands International Web-site. Announcement main page is:
