Translation of key Ramsar documents into Arabic

In response to the adoption of the conclusions and recommendations of the Cairo Statement that was elaborated during the ‘Regional Technical Meeting on Implementation of the Ramsar Convention in the Arab Region’ held from the 22 to 25 June 2009 in Cairo, Egypt, we are pleased to announce the completion of translation of the first set of documents as requested by the participants of this meeting who included representatives of the member countries of the League of Arab States as well as concerned regional and international organizations, academics and other wetland experts. Following the meeting in Cairo in June, the Secretariat immediately began the process to translate key Ramsar documents into Arabic. These documents are now available to all interested parties by following the links given below:

We now begin working in earnest on the next round of translation of key Ramsar documents that will contribute to further progress in the implementation of the Ramsar Convention in the Arab region.

With this news, we encourage all contracting parties and Ramsar partners to disseminate these new Ramsar products as widely as possible to assist others in becoming fully involved in the wise use of all wetlands.
