Winners of the 40th Anniversary competition in the Americas

Announcing the winners of the 40th Anniversary competition in the Americas to identify schools and the managers of Ramsar Sites that have excelled in promoting the wise use and conservation of wetlands in the region.

In first and second place, respectively, for the schools are Tantramar Regional High School, Sackville, Canada and East Elgin Secondary School, West Aylmer, Canada. In first place for the management of Ramsar Sites are the managers at the Mamirauá Reserve for Sustainable Development Ramsar Site in Brazil and in second place, managers at the Laguna Conchali Ramsar Site in Chile. The Ramsar Secretariat congratulates the four winners who will receive their prizes on the 2nd February at a special ceremony to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Ramsar Convention in the Americas in Huatulco, Mexico.
