Annual Contributions 2008

The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar, Iran, 1971) presents its compliments to the Permanent Mission of ... and has the honour to refer to the following:

With reference to the adoption by the Ninth Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties (Kampala, Uganda, 2005) of the Convention budget for the triennium 2006-2008, the Secretariat has prepared invoices for the payment of annual contributions. Such an invoice for 2008 is attached.

Contracting Parties will be aware that annual contributions to the Ramsar Convention budget are calculated on the basis of the percentage contributions paid by Member States to the UN budget. The invoices sent to Contracting Parties in June 2006 for the 2007 contributions were provisional, and after the new 2007-2009 scale of assessments was adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2006, the Secretariat calculated the final amounts for 2007 contributions (attached "statement of contributions" refers). Contracting Parties are requested to pay the difference, if such exists, along with the 2008 contribution. Where there was a significant adjustment, a final invoice for 2007 is included.

In accordance with Ramsar financial rules, invoices have been prepared in Swiss francs. Contracting Parties are requested to pay the attached invoice by 1 January 2008. Parties that are also members of MedWet will note that their MedWet contributions are invoiced separately, and that the same conditions will apply.

Contracting Parties that have not yet paid the 2007 contribution are respectfully requested to do so.

Contracting Parties are asked to transfer their contributions to the Convention bank account with UBS S.A. in Lausanne, Switzerland, and to the Beneficiary name of Ramsar/IUCN.
