Diplomatic notification 2002/12: Ramsar COP8 Documents, 2
Second set of documents for the 8th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar, Iran, 1971) - COP8, Valencia, Spain, 18-26 November 2002
The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar, Iran, 1971) presents its compliments and has the honour to refer to the following:
The Ramsar Bureau is pleased to transmit to Contracting Parties the second and final set of documents for Ramsar COP8. A first set of documents was distributed under cover of Notification 2002/11 dated 16 August 2002.
A Revised List of Ramsar COP8 documents is included with this set.
It should be noted that this set also includes the draft decisions that have been submitted by Contracting Parties before the deadline of 18 September 2002.
A copy of this set will be transmitted to all COP8 participants who have pre-registered by 30 October 2002 (except in the case of participants who have indicated that they will download the documents from the Ramsar Web site). The set for Heads of Delegations in far-away countries will be sent by special courier. The Bureau requests delegates to bring their sets of documents with them to the Conference in order to save paper and photocopying resources.
The Bureau takes this opportunity to remind Contracting Parties that the credentials of delegates to Ramsar COP8 have to meet the following requirements: a) be written in one of the three official languages (English, French, or Spanish), on official letterhead; b) be presented as a signed original document; a photocopy or fax will not be accepted; c) be signed by the Head of State or Government, or the Minister of Foreign Affairs: any other signature(s) will not be acceptable, except in cases when the Ramsar Bureau has been formally notified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of other officers in the country that are authorized to sign credentials.
The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands respectfully requests that the content of the present Note be communicated to the competent national authorities and avails itself of this opportunity to renew the assurance of its highest consideration.
