Notification 2001/6

Results of the 10th Meeting of the Scientific and Technical Review Panel (STRP)

The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar, Iran, 1971) presents its compliments and has the honour to refer to the following:

The Ramsar Bureau is pleased to attach a copy of the Report of the 10th Meeting of the Scientific and Technical Review Panel (STRP) held from 27-29 June 2001 (available only in English) and the summary of the decisions, which have been produced in the three official languages.

As indicated in the report and decisions, most of the STRP outputs will be submitted to the Standing Committee of the Convention for consideration at its meeting from 3-7 December 2001, and in some cases to the meeting of the Standing Committee Subgroup on Ramsar COP8, for consideration at its meeting from 6-8 May 2002. Some STRP outputs will be circulated to Contracting Parties after the Standing Committee meeting in December for a first round of consultations before they are issued as COP8 working documents.

In the meantime, Contracting Parties and/or STRP National Focal Points with an interest in receiving working drafts of some of the STRP outputs as they stand at present (available in English only) are kindly requested to contact the Ramsar Bureau, which will be pleased to provide copies, preferably by e-mail.

The Bureau of the Convention on Wetlands respectfully requests that the content of the present Note be communicated to the competent national authorities and avails itself of this opportunity to renew the assurance of its highest consideration.
