World Wetlands Day 2008 -- Portugal

For the World Wetlands Day, our NGO, Almargem decided to do the following:

1) A translation for all the materials made available through our website at: http://www.almargem.org/index.php?article=50&visual=2&id_area=13

These include all the fact sheets, WWD08 poster, and also the activities for kids: the do it yourself turtles. All the materials have been available, via our website, since Feb 2nd, and will continue to be, until the end of this month. At the time, we sent information to all the schools in the Algarve, telling them that this material was available and is free to be used by any teacher or class.

2) At our environmental center, the "Centro Ambiental da Pena" (http://centroambientaldapena.blogspot.com) or (http://capena.no.sapo.pt), we received kids from a local school (from a town called Salir, near the city of Loulé – which is typical interior Algarve), and we all had a lot of fun doing our turtles. In fact, we had so much fun, we couldn’t resist and took pictures of our turtles “in the wild” (we simulated in our garden a natural setting for them, with rocks and vegetation, as you can see from the pictures). The kids really loved it!
