2nd February 2005 – World Wetlands Day

TEACHERS ON WETLANDS FROM ARGENTINA, CHILE
AND PERÚ IN AN INTERNET CONFERENCE

  • This original activity will provide opportunities for exchanging experiences and learnings.

Santa Fe, Coquimbo, Arequipa, 2nd February 2005.- Teachers and instructors on environmental education in wetlands from Chile, Perú and Argentina will have a conversation via Internet using a conference application, in order to exchange experiences and learnings gained from work developed by the organizations in the local, regional and international field.

The activity will be carried out supporting 2 February, World Wetlands Day, the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands, attended by members of the Neotropical Center for Training on Wetlands, CNEH, and Aquatic Environments Corporation from Chile, CAACH with headquarters in Coquimbo; Nature and Development Association, NADES, from Arequipa, Perú; and Fundación Proteger – Friends of the Earth, Argentina national coordination in Santa Fe.

“The exchange will bring together and strengthen even more our organization’s work in this field, following up the guidelines of the Ramsar Convention’s Communication, Education and Public Awareness Programme (CEPA)”, pointed out Diego Luna Quevedo, CAACH director, and one of the promoter of this original activity.

Rosina Soler, Romina Ghirardi and Federico González wil be representing the Environmental Education Group on Wetlands, GEAH – PROTEGER; Diego Luna and Sonia Mena for Wetlands’ Guardians – CAACH; biologist Anali Madrid for “Los Zambullos” Group –NADES; and the specialist Elier Tabilo Valdivieso for the Neotropical Center for Training on Wetlands, CNEH.

WWD by Radio France International

On 2 February Radio France International (RFI) Spanish service will broadcast a special interview made by Silvia Celi to Jorge Cappato, non governmental focal point for Argentina CEPA – Ramsar Convention, for World Wetlands Day (WWD).

RFI will broadcast the interview at 14GMT and 21 GMT, reaching all Latin American countries. The reports are broadcasted on short wave, via satellite, through a large net of associated radio stations in Latin America and by Internet: www.rfi.fr/fichiers/Langues/rfi_espagnol_main.asp
