Re: World Wetlands Day 2003
For World Wetlands Day 2003 "No wetlands - No water!" the Ministry of Environment involved the management authorities of Italian Ramsar Wetlands in promoting suitable initiatives.
Therefore many management authorities organized free guided visits and workshops on wetlands as providers and as vital components of the freshwater cycle.
We resume initiatives as follows:
Torre Guaceto: guided visits, documentary projection, workshop on the role of wetlands in the freshwater cycle, newspaper articles;
Laguna di Orbetello: guided visits on the subject of the freshwater cycle in Laguna di Orbetello;
Lago di Burano: guided visits, exhibition on wetlands and birdlife;
Le Cesine: guided visits, exhibition on wetlands and birdlife, slide show, biological products market;
Valle Averto: guided visits, documentary projection;
Sardinia Wetlands: start of the ARCA Project "Saving biodiversity", publishing brochures on Sardinia wetlands, workshops in schools;
Parco nazionale del Circeo: workshop and assisted laboratory for schoolchildren on wetlands, on freshwater cycle and on coastal lakes of Circei and on birdlife, guided visit to the Lake of Fogliano, documentary projection and display panels;
Saline di Margherita di Savoia: guided visits, workshops in schools.
Looking forward to joining together for the next World Wetlands Day, best regards
Dr. Aldo Cosentino
Director General
