The Vanderburgh County Soil and Water Conservation District assisted the Evansville-Vanderburgh Public Library System in promoting World Wetlands Day 2001. At each of the eight branches, patrons could find informational brochures, stickers and other activities for the kids. Each branch was given 16 Ramsar brochures, 30 Ramsar stickers (6 each of 5 designs), 20 brochures created by the SWCD (these contained general information listing wetland related books, websites, and field guides where even further information was available), and 20 brochures about a local wetland park area. Wetland-themed crossword, word search, and a word scramble puzzles were developed specifically for juvenile patrons. In addition, the SWCD worked with the librarys graphic arts department to implement two displays at the larger library branches.

Finally, as a gift, three books were presented to the library system by the SWCD:
- Wetlands (3rd ed., 2000), W.J. Mitsch and J.G. Gosselink, Wiley John and Sons, Inc.
- Postmodern Wetlands: Culture, History and Ecology (1997), R.J. Giblett, Columbia University Press
- Wetlands of the American Midwest: A Historical Geography of Changing Attitudes (1997), H.C. Prince, University of Chicago Press
