The Royal Forest & Bird Protection Society was out in force on World Wetlands Day letting people in New Zealand's capital city Wellington know how wonderful wetlands are.
Forest & Bird, along with other conservation organisations, put on displays and gave visitors information about how they can help look after our wetlands. Given that 90% of New Zealand's wetlands have been destroyed, the protection of those remaining is particularly important.
The setting for the day was Waitangi Park on Wellington's harbour waterfront, where an extensive wetland has been re-created in the heart of the city - showing the many visitors to the park how beautiful wetlands can be, and what an important contribution they can make to our environment.
