World Wetlands Day 2008 -- Spain

María José Viñals, Directora, Oficina de Acción Internacional, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, writes: "I am sending to you some pictures about the celebration of the 2008 Wetland Day with the particularity that the Vice-President of the Spanish Government was present at the event. We celebrated the event in the Albufera de Valencia, organized by the Water Authority (Confederación Hidrografica del Júcar) with Maria Teresa Fernández de la Vega (Vice-President of the Spanish Government), Antonio Serrano (State Secretary for Environment of the Ministry of Environment), and Juan José Moragues (President of Confederación Hidrografica del Júcar). All of them are in the picture beside me. In the other picture are the Vice-President and the President of the Water Authority. Really a success to have so relevant personalities in this event. The Vice-President promised to launch a Mediterranean Wetland Centre under the umbrella of the Spanish Fundación para la Biodiversidad and she was really supportive in that."
