Ramsar Small Grants Fund 2009 – Call for voluntary contributions
The Ramsar Small Grants Fund supports small projects promoting the conservation and wise use of wetlands in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The Fund relies exclusively upon the voluntary contributions from government agencies and national and international NGOs and provides up to 40,000 Swiss francs (about US$35,000) per project.
The closing date for 2009 project applications was 30 June 2009. Forty-four proposals have been received, covering all Ramsar regions of the world, and they are currently being evaluated by the Ramsar Secretariat. Many of them look extremely interesting. The 2009 project portfolio will be available for review on our Web site after the October sign-off by the Ramsar Standing Committee, but we would like to invite contributions to the 2009 Fund now, so that by October we can start work on the ground.
If there is anyone out there who would like to contribute, please do let us know. Should you need further information, do contact us at the addresses below.
If you think another department or person in your institution or another institution might be interested in making a voluntary contribution to this valuable programme, please do not hesitate to forward this message.
And if you have anyone else you believe the Secretariat should be looking to for such funds, we would be very happy to receive your suggestions.
We hope you have had as beautiful a summer as we have had here in Gland, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
