I received the Ramsar Award, in the "Individual" category, in 1999 at the meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties held in Costa Rica, and since that time I have been fortunate in being able to achieve a great deal, both at the personal level and for the benefit of the country.

At the international level, I was invited to participate on Wetlands International's Board of Directors from 2002 to 2004. I was nominated to be the Ramsar Convention's National Focal Point for the Scientific and Technical Review Panel, and as a Scientific Advisor for the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) as well.

At national level, I was nominated Chairman of the Foundation for the Park "Las Leyendas". I also received the "Healthy City" Prize on 5 June 1999, World Environment Day, given by the provincial council of Lima, as well as the Las Leyendas Park Award, 2001, and an Honorary Professorship at the Faculty of Education of the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University.

In fundraising, a few organizations, such as the US Fish & Wildlife Service and the World Wildlife Fund, have provided funding in order to continue our existing projects and to implement new ones.

In addition to being the Head of the Research Institute at the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University, I've created the masters degree in environmental management and biological resources and the doctorate in environment and sustainable development. I've also been able to be a regular guest on radio and TV programmes on wetlands and biodiversity and in national newspapers.

Recibí el Premio Ramsar en la categoría "Persona natural" en 1999, en la reunión de la Conferencia de las Partes Contratantes celebrada en Costa Rica, y desde entonces he tenido la fortuna de poder conseguir cosas importantes, tanto a nivel personal como en beneficio del país.

A nivel internacional, fui invitado a participar en la Junta Directiva de Wetlands International de 2002 a 2004. Además, fui designado Coordinador Nacional para el Grupo de Examen Científico y Técnico de la Convención de Ramsar y también asesor científico de la Convención sobre la conservación de las especies migratorias de animales silvestres (CMS).

A nivel nacional, me nombraron Presidente de la fundación del Parque de Las Leyendas, recibí el premio "Ciudad saludable" otorgado por la Municipalidad de Lima Metropolitana, el 5 de junio de 1999, con motivo del Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente, así como el Premio Parque de Las Leyendas (2001). También me otorgaron la condición de Profesor Honorario en la Facultad de Educación de la Universidad Inca Gracilaso de la Vega.

Con respecto a la recaudación de fondos, algunas organizaciones, como US Fish & Wildlife Service y el Foro Mundial para la Naturaleza, han proporcionado financiación para continuar con nuestros proyectos en curso e implementar otros nuevos.

Además de ser el Director del Instituto de Investigación de la Universidad Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, he creado la maestría en manejo ambiental y recursos biológicos y el doctorado en medio ambiente y desarrollo sostenible. También he tenido la posibilidad de participar regularmente en programas de radio y televisión sobre los humedales y la biodiversidad, así como en periódicos nacionales.

J'ai reçu le Prix Ramsar, dans la catégorie individuelle, en 1999, à l'occasion de la session de la Conférence des Parties contractantes organisée au Costa Rica et, depuis lors, j'ai eu la chance de pouvoir accomplir beaucoup de choses, tant au niveau personnel que dans l'intérêt du pays.

Au niveau international, j'ai été invité à siéger au Conseil d'administration de Wetlands International, de 2002 à 2004. J'ai été nommé Correspondant national du Groupe d'évaluation scientifique et technique de la Convention de Ramsar et Conseiller scientifique de la Convention sur les espèces migratrices (CMS).

Au niveau national, j'ai été nommé Président de la Fondation du Parc Las Leyendas et j'ai reçu le Prix " " Cité en bonne santé " le 5 juin 1999, Journée mondiale de l'environnement, attribué par le Conseil provincial de Lima, ainsi que le prix du Parc Las Leyendas, en 2001. J'ai aussi été nommé professeur honoraire de la Faculté de pédagogie de l'université Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.

Quelques organisations telles que le US Fish & Wildlife Service et le Fonds mondial pour la nature nous ont attribué un financement pour poursuivre nos projets et en mettre en œuvre de nouveaux.

Chef de l'Institut de recherche de l'université Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, j'ai créé le diplôme de master en gestion de l'environnement et ressources biologiques ainsi que le doctorat en environnement et développement durable. Les journaux nationaux, la télévision et la radio m'invitent aussi régulièrement dans le cadre de programmes consacrés aux zones humides et à la biodiversité.
